Gainesville/Ocala Stations Sales Finalized      1-20-14
JVC Media, which took over WTRS-FM 102.3,  WYGC-FM 104.9, WMFQ-FM 92.9 and WXJZ-FM 100.9 from Asterisk Communications, Inc. through an LMA back in May, has finalized the sale. The total is  $3.5 million.  The other property in the cluster, WBXY-FM 99.5 has been sold by JVC to RDA Broadcast Holdings, LLC for $350,000.

No more simulcast for JVC Media's WYGC-FM 104.9 and WTRS-FM 102.3. According to JVC they will have live and local staff.  The format will include hits from the '60s, '70s and '80s.

Gainesville radio legend “Leroy the Love Toy” has been tapped for mornings on Classic Hits WYGC-FM 104.9 starting Monday February 2nd from 6AM-10AM.
Leroy, with 24 years of radio under his belt - 12 in Gainesville-Ocala alone, brings a wealth of rock radio knowledge and strong community ties to 104.9 WOW FM. 

Smooth 100.9 Drops Soft AC Format   5-24-16
JVC Media owned WXJZ-FM 100.9 has dropped the Soft Adult Contemporary format and is now simulcasting
the Classic Hits of the '60s, '70s and  '80s of WYGC-FM 104.9.

WYGC Flips To News/Talk      8-4-16
JVC Media flips Classic Hits WYGC-FM 104.9 to a News/Talk format.  "104.9 The Talk of Gainesville," will launch at midnight August 4 with non-stop local news, weather and traffic in addition to the syndicated "Imus in the Morning" and Fox News' Brian Kilmeade. "104.9 The Talk of Gainesville will be locally programmed to allow our community to discuss issues important to Gainesville residents," said WYGC Program Director and JVC Media VP Matthew Goldapper. The station will air from its downtown Gainesville studios. WYGC will carry CBS News on the hour.

WYGC To Flip     3-4-18
The All 80's format on low power WGVR-FM 103.3 will move to full power WYGC-FM 104.9 on Mar 19. Programmer Chris Lash will bring Scott Shannon’s True Oldies Channel to Gainesville's WGVR-FM 103.3.

Florida Man Radio Expanding        11-5-19
JVC Media of Florida announces the first radio affiliate of Orlando’s Florida Man Radio.  Building on the rapid success and overwhelming positive response from listeners and clients for Florida Man Radio, WDYZ-AM 660/105.5 FM, Florida Man Radio will begin broadcasting on WYGC-FM 104.9 serving the Gainesville  and North Central Florida area on Monday November 11th, 2019.  This is the first of many stations in the state of Florida that JVC will be targeting for affiliation.  Florida Man Radio debuted in September anchored by long-time Orlando talk legend Shannon Burke, the nationally syndicated Bubba the Love Sponge Clem, radio veteran Scott Ledger, American journalist, author, and former television host Bill O’Reilly, and Attorney Justin Clark.

Florida Man Leaves Gainesville      6-8-21
Thanks to Doug Clifford for letting us know that JVC Media has pulled "Florida Man Radio" (Orlando) simulcast from WYGC-FM 104.9 and is now simulcasting the Country and Rock format of WXUS-FM 102.3. JVC began the simulcast in November  of 2019.
