It was also the first station in Polk County to devote its entire program schedule to the African-American community. Slogans used and were "Soul 13", "Lucky 13", Thunderbird 13, and "The Station That Loves U Back". Radio Station WWAB, Inc. was formed in 1985 when Hugh Hughes bought out his partner David Blossman to take sole ownership of the station.
