Paul writes; "...I was a jock at
WKKO(-AM
860) in the late 60's, did mid days for about a year around 1967. My air name was
Mike Green. In 1968, Bob Norris asked me to do
"WKKO Contemporary News", a floating heavily produced newscast that we were experimenting with. When I came to
WKKO the air staff was: Melvin-John Foley 6-10am Foley was also the PD, myself--as Mike Green, 10am-2pm,
Bill Eckerd 2 to 6pm, Clark Ray 6pm to sign off and weekends. Simon T was also doing weekends at that time at
WKKO. Eckerd, Simon T and I were all products of WWKE,
"Key Radio" in Ocala. Prior to Foley programming WKKO, the line up was:
Mickey Martin doing morning drive, "Spinner" Bob Rado doing middays,
Tom Tyler doing PM drive and was the PD. When Foley took over programming KO, he put the Drake format of short jingles etc. on the station. At one time we had a play list of 10 current hits... I also worked at
WMFJ(-AM 1450) in Daytona Beach, in mid 60's was copywriter/production guy and did a Sunday night air shift for about a year..." |
