Jerry O’Neill  Biography

Jerry hails from the small town of Avilla, Indiana. He attended junior college in Minnesota on a basketball scholarship, then proceeded to get cut, and was “forced” to coach the women’s team at the school!  O’Neill's 35 year career has included being a program director at 3 different radio stations and while in Indiana, hosted the statewide Perdue basketball and football coaches shows. O’Neill has worked in numerous markets including Ft. Myers, Ft. Walton Beach, Lafayette/West Lafayette Indiana, and St. Louis. O’Neill has been a sports talk show host in Orlando since January of 1994 beginning at WWZN-AM 540.  He has been a part of the University of Central Florida football broadcast team since 1995. Jerry joined WHOO-AM 1080, " ESPN 1080" in January of 2008. O’Neill makes very clear his “love” of way too many teams (usually the ones that still have a chance to win a championship). But he is devoted to UCF & Notre Dame football, Indiana University Basketball, and the Atlanta Braves.

Jerry O'Neill has returned to the station where he began in Orlando, (then WQTM-AM 740) now WYGM-AM 740/96.9 FM. He is co hosting with the Shot Doctor from 3PM-6PM.

Jerry O'Neill Retires    8-19-19
Jerry O'Neill long time CFL sports radio host has called it a career.  O'Neill retired from WYGM-AM 740/FM 96.9 in Feb 2019 and announced his retirement after 18 years as announcer for UCF Football.
