Russ began his career in Newark, NY., 30 miles outside of his hometown of Rochester. Coming to Florida in 1977, Uncle Russie found a home for his personality driven show on WHHL-AM 1190. Russ has worked at WTRR-AM 1400 and in the late 1980's moved to WMJK-AM 1220 in Kissimmee, where "The Doo Wop Shoppe" began, then Russ and the show moved to WGTO-AM 540. Russ is now one of the voices you hear all over central Florida as a reporter for Clear Channel Communications doing traffic for many of the area stations. Russ was host of the Doo Wop shop on WLBE-AM 790. |

On May 22, 2014, "Uncle Russie", Russ Ross celebrated his 41st year in broadcasting. In an email from Russie; "...And they thought it wouldn't last! I had a special anniversary program on WLBE-AM 790 (heard weekdays from 4 to 6pm), with a special interview with Joey Dee of Joey Dee and the Starlighters. My very first radio boss, Gary Van of WACK-AM 1420 in Newark, New York also called to say congratulations. I haven't seen him in about 38 years! |
