Bill,
began his broadcasting career in 1957 with Armed Forces Radio in Puerto
Rico. When Bill was discharged in 1959, he went to work for the station in Mt.
Dora, WMDF-AM 1580.
Bill's career would take him to many stations in Central Florida. Those stations
included WMFJ-AM 1450
and WROD-AM 1340
both in Daytona Beach,
WABR-AM 1440 and WHOO-AM
990 in Orlando, as well as stations in Leesburg, Eustis, New Smyrna
Beach and Deland. Bill also teamed with his brother Bob
Andrews to build WZZZ-AM 1510 in Boynton Beach. Bill would manage
and was a part-owner of WVGT-AM
1580 in Mt. Dora. Before his retirement, his last radio job was as
Program Director at WPUL-AM
1130 in Bartow in 1978. Bill would also be the morning show host as well
as host of the "Trading Post" show. Bill left radio and became a
communications technician for Motorola. Later, he moved to advertising sales for
Bartow’s newspaper, the Polk
County Democrat.
