Gene Burns, formerly with WKIS-AM 740, now heard on KGO-AM 810, San Francisco will celebrate his 69th birthday on Thursday. Happy birthday Gene!


"PJ and Friends" Adds Another Day     12-03-09
Pj Pantaleo and Matt Gervia co-hosts of "PJ and Friends" on WELE-AM 1380 will be heard on Monday, Wednesday and Fridays beginning on December 14 from 1PM-2:30PM. 


The BS Saves Christmas    12-05-09
WTKS-FM 104.1 mid-day host Buckethead (Jason Bailey) along with hundreds of volunteers helped put up Christmas decorations at Lake Eola. Even though it rained on and off all morning, it could not dampen the spirits of the volunteers.  Listeners were asked to donate Christmas lights, decorations and canned goods for the Second Harvest Food Bank, and Saturday’s decorating and food drive was a huge success.

Nick Pfeifauf Passes     12-11-09
Nick Pfeifauf best known as an evening news anchor for WESH-TV 2, but spent 10 years at WTRR-AM 1400 in Sanford before leaving for the world of television. Nick died Friday after suffering a heart attack. He was 77.

A couple of days ago we posted that Jeff Cushman had been promoted to Program Director at WOMX-FM 105.1. Thanks to Dan Connor for setting us straight. He tells us "...Jeff has been the program director at WOMX, since 2002 or 2003. Bobby Smith is the Assistant Program Director at WOMX, starting in early 2008."

Winter Haven Pirate Fined   12-14-09
Anthony Davis of Winter Haven has been issued a $10,000 fine by the FCC for operating an unlicensed station at 87.9. Davis was sent notice back in August, but he never responded. Now Davis has 30 days to pay up.

Doug Clifford Christmas Special

This Sunday morning, December 20, from 9AM-10AM, Doug Clifford on WSKY-FM 97.3, takes a break from his weekly "progressive interview" program and will present the "Fourth Annual All Cool Yule, Mostly Blues Music Special". You'll hear Christmas music from  the likes of B.B. King, Albert King, Otis Redding, James Brown and The Band. 

Burke Pleads Guilty To Probation Violation

Shannon Burke
pleaded guilty to violating his probation this morning in Orange County Court. He will be sentenced on January 5, 2010. Burke will begin to serve a 6 month sentence in Seminole County by the end of this month.

More Trouble For Wilhite   
12-19-09
WELE-AM 1380 current owner Doug Wilhite has more legal trouble. On the heels of his being acquitted of sex related charges in November, he has new legal problems. Ormond Beach resident Murray Steinberg and five other customers of the "Premiere Travel Show" have filed a complaint in Federal Court this time. Wilhite and two of the thirteen named defendants were served yesterday, Dec. 18. Wilhite and the other defendants are accused of fraud, conspiracy to commit fraud and swindle and violations of the RICO Act. The complaints stem from the sale of travel packages sold without full disclosure of additional fees and/or restrictions. Steinberg and the other plaintiffs are seeking compensation as well as punitive damages, and an injunction to prevent others from becoming victims.

Doug Clifford Program On The Move

WSKY-FM 97.3 news man/talk host Doug Clifford will be taking his show from Sundays to Saturdays beginning Jan. 9. "One Hour of Hope" will air from 5AM-6AM and will be repeated from 11PM-Midnight.

Burke Begins Jail Term     12-31-09
Shannon Burke will surrender today at the Seminole County Jail to begin a six-month sentence. In April of 2009, Burke shot his wife's dog in their bedroom, and the bullet grazed the right side of wife Cathy's head. Shannon has since undergone intensive treatment for alcohol abuse and has returned to Orlando air waves at WORL-AM 660.
