WNTF Returns To Classic R & B      9-7-22
From Dean O'Neal "After many months running of eclectic music identified only as “Barix-Music over IP,” the Classic R & B music has returned to WNTF-AM 1580. Bithlo.  For the moment the station appears to be jockless.

Frank Reed Announces Retirement       9-12-22
Frank Reed whose broadcasting career began here in Central Florida, has announced his retirement at the end of the year from Contemporary Christian KLTY-FM 94.9 in Dallas. Frank has had an amazing career and even
became an author; Frankly Speaking...Four Decades on the Air and Off  A Memoir. The book is both interesting and inspirational.

Lowry Mays Clear Channel Founder Passes     9-13-22
On Monday, September 12, Texas A&M University announced that graduate and the namesake of its business school, Lowry Mays, died at the age of 87. Mays was the founder and former CEO of the San Antonio-based mass media company and broadcasting Clear Channel Communications, now known iHeartCommunications Inc. 

WGGG Returns With New Owners and Format       9-15-22
Hitmaker Music Group has sold WMOP-AM 900 and WGGG-AM 1230/92.1 FM to Urban One Broadcasting Network for $225,000. We reported back in 2020, Florida Sportstalk, LLC sold the stations to Hitmaker Music Group. LLC. Inside Radio reported the sale was reversed based on allegations that Hitmaker engaged in racial discrimination. The format is Hip Hop/R&B/Blues/Throwbacks. WMOP is still silent.

New GM at WPYO      9-21-22
Fernando Bauermeister has been named General Manager at Spanish Broadcasting System's WPYO-FM 95.3

John Holiday Passes      9-24-22
Dan Hogan let's us know of the passing of Clyde Thodey Jr. (air name John Holiday) of Merritt Island, my friend of 55 years, whom I met in 1967, when he hired me for my first paid broadcasting job at WMFJ-AM 1450 in Daytona Beach, passed away September 18, 2022, at the age of 82. Clyde's obituary is here.
