Bill Bauman   Biography

Bill was born on Aug. 24, 1948, in Wilmington, Delaware. He grew up in suburban Philadelphia. The family moved to Central Florida when he was 14 and he attended Winter Park High School. He graduated with an associate's degree from Orlando Junior College in 1969. Bill married Jean Bumgardner, on Jan. 14, 1989. Bill began his broadcast career at WVGT-AM 1580 in Mount Dora at the age of 19.  Then on to WTRR-AM 1400 in Sanford. Then on to the "big city" - Orlando and the biggest "rocker" of them all WLOF-AM 950 in the news department, with other folks like; Steve Rutledge, Terry LeeAlan MooreDave Elliott, Dan TresslerGreg Gentlemen, Peggy Curry, David Waterman and Carl "Buzz" Hallberg. Bill would also do news at co-owned WLOQ-FM 103.1. Next stop, WKIS-AM 740. Bill worked here with good friend Wayne Trout, newsman Jim Philips, news director Richard King, Larry Shannon (Larry Roberts), Frank Reed, Bud Brewer, Alan Spector, Dan Tressler, Linda Coleman and Gene Burns. He covered earthquake relief mission to Managua, Nicaragua, for WKIS in 1972.Then it was on to the TV news side. Bauman joined WESH-TV 2 as news director. Bill also served as WESH-TV President and General Manager and announced his retirement on December 18, 2007.
