WMFV Takes To The Air 3-18-18 The new station WMFV-FM 89.5, sister station to WMFE-FM 90.7, went on the air for the first time on Saturday, March 3. The station, which covers The Villages, Leesburg and The Golden Triangle (Eustis, Mount Dora and Tavares), was officially born in March but is not yet operating at full power. WMFV’s engineer is still working to resolve some transmission issues. WMFV President and General Manager LaFontaine Oliver said; “Our goal is to create a station that will resonate with the community and so we have to be very intentional.” Oliver said they began broadcasting with a soft launch format that includes NPR’s two newsmagazines, Morning Edition and All Things Considered, and classical music. The programming schedule will continue to evolve with feedback that is received. |
No Translator For You! 3-19-18 Hispanics United In Broadcasting has been granted the petition to deny adding a translator at 92.7. They operate WRXW-FM 92.7 in Winter Park. The translator was reportedly proposed for the Mexican formatted WLAA-AM 1680. |
Chad Pitt Returns 3-21-18 Beginning on April 2, Chad Pitt will return to Central Florida as morning co-host with Leslye Gayle at WMGF-FM 107.7. He's replacing John Forsythe, who is retiring after a career of more that 50-years in radio. |
