WXXL's Jordan Has Left The Building     10-1-13     
WXXL-FM 106.7's Program Director/Afternoon host, Jordan (John Desocio) has left the station. Assistant Program Director/Music Director Jana Sutter will move from mid-days to afternoons.

Movin' On Up     10-2-13 
Cox Media Group Orlando Radio has named Heather Stricker as General Sales Manager of WMMO-FM 98.9 and WPYO-FM 95.3 Orlando. She will report to Tammie McGrath, Director of Sales, CMG Orlando Radio. Stricker has a long history with CMG Orlando. She joined the cluster in 2003 as a recent graduate of the University of Central Florida as an Account Manager.  She then went on to hold several positions at CMG Orlando including Senior Account Manager for WDBO-AM 580, where she was a CMG President’s Circle Winner in 2011.  Heather has previously served as Local Sales Manager for separately for both WMMO-FM and WPYO-FM and was, most recently, Local Sales Manager for CMG Orlando Radio’s Cluster.

Billy Brown Returns       10-5-13
Billy Brown returns to Orlando as morning host at WMMO-FM 98.9. Cox Media Group has announced Billy will begin hosting duties on Nov 4. Billy worked at WOCL-FM 105.9 from 2008 until 2010.

Happy Birthday!         10-10-13
Celebrating a birthday today is Steve Nikazy. Steve who grew up in Kissimmee and worked at WDBO-AM 580 radio between 1975 and 1976. He is now a CBS news anchor at KYW, Philadelphia since 1990.  Thanks to Pete Simonson for the reminder.

WNDB Returns To The Air          10-12-13     
WNDB-AM 1150 has returned to the air on Friday afternoon after being knocked off the air on Thursday. Mike Linn, told the Daytona Beach News-Journal that the outage was caused by a tenant of the radio tower on LPGA Boulevard. The tenant, who was removing some of its equipment, “damaged some of our equipment in the process. WNDB was back on the air by Friday afternoon.

XL106.7 Gets A New PD         10-12-13
Clear Channel has named Brian Mack as their new Program Director at  WXXL-FM 106.7. Brian comes from CC's WRVW-FM 107.5 in Nashville. 

Emily Miller Joins Marc Bernier      10-17-13
The next guest at the Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University President's Speakers Series on Wednesday, Oct. 23, with host WNDB-AM1150's Marc Bernier will be Emily Miller. Ms. Miller is senior editor of opinion for The Washington Times. She is the author of “Emily Gets Her Gun … But Obama Wants to Take Yours” (Regnery 2013). Miller won the 2012 Clark Mollenhoff Award for Investigative Reporting from the Institute on Political Journalism. There will be a book signing after the meeting.
The event will be held in the College of Aviation Atrium.

WELE License To Be Donated To Bethune-Cookman University    10-22-13
The license of WELE-AM 1380 will be donated to Bethune-Cookman University in Daytona Beach, upon FCC approval. Doug Wilhite's Wings Communications will make the donation. 

Roger Gilmore Passes     10-25-13
Deland icon and West Volusia Beacon
Sports Editor Roger Gilmore has passed away. Beginning in 1959 Roger reported on local sports for the DeLand Sun News and then from 1992 with The West Volusia Beacon. Gilmore also worked at Deland radio station WOOO-AM 1310, reporting on what else, but sports. Services will be at 3 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 27, on Melching Field at Conrad Park in DeLand.

Changes Coming To WROD   10-25-13
On Monday Oct 28th Tracy Dillon,
formerly of the Frank & Tracy Morning Show on WHOG-FM 95.7 will take over Mornings (6AM-10AM) at Daytona's Oldies Station WROD 1340AM/104.7FM. Also, John Barrett former Operations Manager/Morning Drive host at WLOV-FM 99.5 is joining WROD to host middays and be a programming consultant beginning on Nov 4. Cadillac Jack will continue to host afternoons. This is a reunion for John and Jack as they worked together in the early 1980's at WZIP-AM 1590.
