WIPC Fined      3-1-12
WIPC-AM 1280 has been hit with a $4,000 fine by the FCC. Seems they failed to switch to night time power and directional pattern. The owner, Super W Media Group, has blamed an equipment malfunction for the failure to automatically make the switch. 

Morning Show Shake Up At K92   3-2-12
Cox Broadcasting is changing the WWKA-FM 92.3 morning show - again. In January they brought in AJ
Maguire to co-host with Grace"Skid" Lavin was let go after nine years. Ashley Figueroa will be joining AJ for the "AJ & Ashley Morning Show". Grace will move to mid-days, 9AM-2PM, the slot she and Shadow were sharing.  

New PD/Afternoon Drive Host At XL106.7      3-5-12
Coming from WKFS-FM 107.1 in Cincinnati Jordan (John Desocio) takes over afternoon drive as well as the position of Program Director at WXXL-FM 106.7.  

Chris Trenkmann Out At WKMG-TV      3-5-12
Chris Trenkmann, former WDBO-AM 580 newsman who went on to Central Florida News 13 then WKMG-TV channel 6, has been let go from the TV station after 5 years.

Don Gould To Retire On His Birthday     3-8-12
Don Gould, who spent ten years in Florida, has been doing weekend morning updates on WINS-AM 1010, New York for the past five and a half years and will leave that post after this Sundays broadcast. Don spent more than thirty years in the #1 market. Don anchored sports at WNBC-TV 4 for ten years,  two and a half years at WPIX-TV 11, sportscaster at WCBS-AM 880 for four years and three-years doing sports on the ABC Radio Network. Don has also been a good friend of this website as well. We also want to wish him a happy 65th birthday on Sunday.

Happy birthday to Jim Trapani of WITG-FM 104.7

WPRK Off The Air...Temporarily

The Rollins College student-run radio station, WPRK-FM 91.5, is off the air just temporarily. The FCC realized that the transmitter coordinates for the station had been incorrectly reported in the 1970s. The station ceased operations on March 7. Rob Soviero, director of promotions and communication for WPRK, told the Orlando Sentinel that the station could return to the air as early as Friday.

Receiver Takes Over WHNR

WHNR-AM 1360 has been placed into receivership by a Polk County judge. Judge J. Michael McCarthy 
ordered George Reed of Media Services Group take over as receiver for the station. GB Enterprises Communications Corp. was the former license holder. Edward Olivares won a judgment of $48,020.85 against  Martin Santos, who took over GB Enterprises Communications Corp.  Santos had sold the station to Florida Spanish Communications Corp. in 2011 for $1,000. Judge McCarthy, found that Santos had failed to provide notice of the sale to the court thus allowing Reed to take over.

New Station On The Air

WLOV-FM 99.5, licensed to Daytona Beach Shores, has taken to the air. For the time being, they are commercial free as well as jock free. The format is Lite Adult Contemporary.
