WUCF-FM History An on-campus radio station was originally requested by Florida Technological University’s Student Senate. The station switched its name to WUCF-FM when the school was renamed the University of Central Florida in 1979. WUCF became a member station of the Corporation for Public Broadcasting in 1994. When it first started, WUCF-FM 89.9 broadcast from an old student center and later from studios constructed in the Library basement. The station now has its own state-of-the-art facility within the Nicholson School of Communication, where it provides programming that enriches, educates and entertains listeners. During the past decades, WUCF has kept up-to-date with rapidly changing technology, and it became one of Orlando’s first radio stations to have an all-digital studio. |
