WWKA-FM 92.3 morning team of "AJ & Ashley In The Morninghave been nominated as On-Air Personalities of the year in the large market category. Congratulations to you both. 


Bill Sayer Passes         2-2-16
William M. "Bill" Sayer, 81 lost his yearlong battle with cancer at the Brownwood Care Center in Wildwood, Florida. On Jan. 27, 2016. Bill was born Jan. 1, 1935 in Rochester NY. Bill moved to Central Florida in 1957 and worked at Martin Marietta until he and son Dwight formed Sayers Auto Parts, Sayers Auto Service and Wrecker Service at 29th Street and the South Orange Blossom Trail in 1969. When Bill retired he spent much of his time at WLBE Radio 790 hosting the extremely popular "Party Line" program. 


WSJZ Becomes "Brevard's Classic Rock"    2-2-16
WSJZ-FM 95.9, has become Brevard's Classic Rock station. They still have "Bubba the Love Sponge in Morning Drive. Other day parts are voice tracked.

WRMQ Adds Another Signal        2-6-16
Florida Broadcasters, owners of WRMQ-AM 1140, Orlando, will add an additional signal. Manuel Arroyo has sold his Gainesville licensed translator and it will be moved to the Orlando area to simulcast the gospel music format. WRMQ is already being simulcast on an Eatonville licensed translator at 103.7.

Chuck Hagel To Appear With Bernier     2-11-16
Former Secretary of Defense, Chuck Hagel, will appear with with WNDB-AM 1150/93.5 FM's Marc Bernier on Tuesday night February 16 at 7PM. Doors open at 6PM.
  The appearance will take place in the Gale Lemerand auditorium, in the Willie Miller Instructional Center on Embry-Riddle’s Daytona Beach campus, 600 S. Clyde Morris Blvd. Overflow viewing rooms will be made available adjacent to the auditorium.  Free and open to the public.   Signs will direct you to parking,  Get there early for the best seating!

New VP/GM for Genesis Communications      2-13-16
Radio executive Howard Tuuri joins Genesis Communications to serve as vice president and general manager for the company’s four Florida stations - news/talk WWBA, Tampa; sports talk WHBO, Tampa; Spanish WMGG, Tampa; and sports talk WHOO-AM 1080, Orlando - as well as its two Internet publications. Tuuri, who will report to Genesis president and CEO Bruce Maduri, previously served with Cox Media Group as a VP/GM for its Tampa operations. 

Timmy Vee Sues Cumulus      2-17-16
All Access is reporting that Timmy Vee (David Vickery) former personality at WAOA-FM 107.1, for 14 years, has filed suit in federal court in Orlando. The lawsuit states that he "regularly and routinely performed at least forty-five hours of work per week" for  Cumulus, and was paid a salary, he was eligible for overtime because he was not an executive or administrative employee under the Fair Labor Standards Act despite being under contract.

Celebrating birthdays today are radio and TV icon, Carole Nelson and Paul Delaney. Dr. Ken Rabac will blow out the candles tomorrow. "Mr. News" Mark Williams will celebrate on Thursday and Michael W. Lowe will dance on Friday. Happy birthday to you all.

New Hispanic Format For Orlando      2-22-16
Cox Media Group has launched a new Hispanic format in the Orlando market located at 107.3 FM.  107.3 Solo Éxitos launched today at noon and targets Hispanic adults aged  25-54. 107.3 Solo Éxitos is a Spanish Contemporary format playing a good mix of songs from the 90s, 2000s, and today for the growing Hispanic audience in Orlando. The 107.3 frequency was previous occupied by X107.3 Orlando’s Alternative station. The entry into the Hispanic format is the first for Cox Media Group and will be the 7th radio station for the Orlando cluster including WDBO-FM 96.5, WDBO-AM 580, WWKA-FM 92.3, WMMO-98.9, WCFB-94.5 and WPYO-FM 95.3.

Local Talk Host Leaving Radio For Politics      2-22-16
Al Smith, co-host  of WNDB-AM 1150/93.5FM "Daytona's Morning News" will be running for the Volusia County Council district 4 seat currently held by Doug Daniels.  

Burke Sitting In On Daytona's Morning News      2-26-16
Longtime CFLRadio host Shannon Burke is sitting in as part of "Daytona's Morning News" at WNDB-AM 1150/93.5FM. He is filling the slot left open by Al Smith who left the program to run for a seat on the Volusia County Council. 

JoJo Kincaid Returns      2-27-16
JVC Media Classic Hits WYGC-FM 104.9 Program Director Chris Chaos, has announced, JoJo Kincaid will return to do afternoons. Kincaid was doing afternoons at "Wow 104.9" in 2014. 

Chaos Adds To His Workload       2-27-16
Besides programming WYGC-FM 104.9 Chris will now consult at WMFQ-FM 92.9 and voice tracking afternoons at PMB Broadcasting's WKCN-FM HD-2 in Columbus, GA.
