WDBO-AM Still Has Magic      7-2-13
The Orlando Magic and Cox Media have announced a five year extension of their contract. WDBO-AM ESPN580 will continue to serve as the Magic Radio Network’s flagship station through the 2017-2018 season. Dennis Neumann provides the play-by-play, Richie Adubato takes on the color analyst duties. WDBO has been the Magic’s flagship station since 1992.


JVC Media Creates Client Service Departments    7-2-13
Chad Hallmark an Ocala native has been tapped to lead JVC Broadcasting's newly created Client Service Department. Hallmark will develop this department for JVC’s brand new Gainesville, Ocala 5 station radio cluster as the Director of Client Services. “Hallmark will concentrate building and developing long standing relationships with clients, agencies and listeners. "This really will become a department that focuses on making these stations market friendly and developing that synergy between sales and programming”, said Shane Reeve, VP and Market Manager for JVC Florida.


Elaina One Of "The Hottest Women In Radio"           7-2-13
WAOA-FM 107.1 morning co-host Elaina has made "The Kaye List" "Hottest Women in Radio" at number 17. Other CFLRadio talents that made the list include WPYO-FM 95.3's Estee, who came in at number 31.


The Hit Kicker Becomes Nash 102.7     7-4-13
Cumulus owned WHKR-FM 102.7 has become "Nash 102.7".

Celebrating birth anniversaries this week include; Ken Dixon celebrates on Monday. Tuesday's celebrations include Black Crow's Mike Linn, Rozzie Franco and Shadow will be blowing out the candles. On Wednesday, Drew Garabo turns 44. To round out the week on Saturday, Bob Nyles does the happy dance. Happy birthday to you all!

WNZF-AM 1550 and WNZF-FM 106.3 has announced that they will be carrying the Jacksonville Jaguar games this year. 


Melony McKay On The Move     7-16-13
Midday host at WPOZ-FM 88.3, Melony McKay has been named the new morning co-host at Kansas City's KJNW-FM 88.5. Melony starts her new gig on July 29. Congratulations Melony!


Marconi Radio Award Finalists    7-16-13 
The morning show personalities at WPCV-FM 97.5, Roger Todd, Tom O'Brien, Melissa Moran and DJ thee Trucker have been named Medium Market Personalities of the Year for the 2013 Marconi Radio Awards. The winners will be announced on Sep 19 at the NAB Marconi Radio Awards being held in Orlando. 


West Volusia Beacon Reporters Join WSBB-AM 1230/WTJV-AM 1490       7-16-13
The West Volusia Beacon's Al Everson  can be heard Mondays at 7:45AM on WSBB-AM 1230 in New Smyrna Beach and sister station WTJV-AM 1490 in Deland. Other members of The Beacon news team are heard on Thursdays. Everson is no stranger to radio as he is a former News Director and host of "Radio Free Volusia" at WXVQ-AM 1490 in Deland.

Congratulations to a good friend of this website, Frank Reed at KLTY-FM, Dallas on being named a nominee of the Christian Music Broadcasters, Scott Campbell Industry Achievement  Award. The award is presented to a Christian Broadcaster or associated professional for outstanding and long-term contributions to the growth of Christian Music Radio. The awards will be presented at the Momentum conference in Orlando, Sept. 4th-17th.

Lance  Venta at Radio Insight is reporting Jason "Buckethead" Bailey former midday host at WTKS-FM 104.1, has joined WZGC-FM 92.9 in Atlanta. “92.9 The Game” is a CBS Sports station. Jason joins co-hosts Randy Cross and Kristen Ledlow.

David "Kidd" Kraddick Dead At 53     7-28-13
Kidd Kraddick died of a brain aneurysm while attending a golf tournament in New Orleans to benefit his charity "Kidd's Kids." Kraddick's syndicated program was heard on WKZY-FM 106.9 in 2010.
