Radio Discussion Is No More      12-3-13
One of the premiere radio discussion boards "Radio Discussion" has disbanded. According to Radio Ink; "The Radio Ink Radio Discussion boards have been shut down as of today. Radio Ink EVP/GM T.J. Lambert said, "This was an economic decision. Our intention was to offer Radio Discussions as an option to our advertisers but we found there was no interest and though we respect what Doug Fleming originally built it simply does not make sense to pour cash into something with no prospect of revenue."

Mark Logas Sitting In For Bud Hedinger     12-5-13
Valencia College Professor of Political Science, Mark Logas will be substituting on WFLA-AM 540/FM 104.5 for Bud Hedinger in the month of December. Mark's guests will include Bobby Schindler (Terri Schiavo's brother) and E.W. Jackson (VA Lt. Gov candidate) on Dec 6. Phyllis Schlafly joins Mark on Dec 13. Next up on Dec 20, Congressman Alan West, Chaney Mason on Dec 23 and on Dec 24 a tribute to our men and women who wear the uniform and our Veteran's who have served.


On The Move     12-7-13
Jordan (John Desocio) program director at WXXL-FM 106.7 is on the move once again. This time Clear Channel is sending Jordan to St. Louis to become assistant program director/music director of KSLZ-FM 107.7  and KBWX-FM 104.9. Jordan joined XL106.7 in March of 2012.

Celebrating this week: Al Spry and former WJRR-FM 101.1 fiasco member Launa Phillips both celebrate on Dec 8. We'd like to extend birthday wishes to a good friend of this website. Frank Reed who will celebrate a birthday on Dec. 11. Happy birthday Frank and thanks for all the help with getting this site off the ground. Also, Stan Anderson, who blows out the candles on Wednesday, Dec 14. 

Ken Payne Takes His Magic To Miami         12-9-13
Ken Payne, who spent 14 years at WMGF-FM 107.7 as Program Director/afternoon host and was let go a year ago, has found a new gig. Ken is the new Program Director at WMXJ-FM 102.7, “MAGIC 102.7" in Miami. WMXJ is owned by Lincoln Financial Media Company of Florida.

WMYZ Looking To Upgrade     12-10-13
Radio Insight is reporting that WMYZ-FM 88.7 is looking to upgrade their signal. WMYZ simulcasts the WPOZ-FM 88.3 signal and is based out of Clermont.

Magic 101.3 Gets New Leader      12-10-13
WTMG-FM 101.3 has a new Assistant Program Director/Music Director.  DJ Q (Quran Pettyjohn) has joined the Marc Radio Group's Hip Hop/R&B station.

WOCA Picks Up CF Basketball      12-11-13
Eight regular season College of Central Florida men's basketball games will be broadcast over WOCA-AM 1370/FM 96.3. The regular season broadcasts will be followed by the state tournament, in March in Ocala. Veteran sportscaster Tom James will handle the play-by-play. 

Elaina On The Move     12-14-13
Elaina (Dore Smith) who joined Timmy Vee in January of this year, at WAOA-FM 107.1 in Melbourne has left the station. Elaina will join Shawn Parr in Nashville, as part of the soon to be nationally syndicated "NASH Nights Live".  The new show will begin on Jan 6, 2014 from 7PM-Midnight. The show will air on all 84 Country formatted stations owned by Cumulus, including WNSH-FM 94.7 in New York City.

WLZR Takes To The Air      12-19-13
After being knocked off the air by copper thieves back on Jan. 26, (then as WINT) Cumulus has brought W
LZR-AM 1560 on the air on Dec 11. Now known as "Sportsradio 1560 The Fan"  they are carrying ESPN sports.

Goodbye Smooth Jazz, The Party Is Coming     12-20-13
WXJZ-FM 99.5 "Party 99.5" will be moving to 100.9 on the FM dial. JVC Broadcasting, owner of both stations has announced the move for Dec. 26. With this move “100.9 Smooth-FM” WXJZ-FM 100.9 will cease to broadcast. Christmas music has been playing on WXJZ since Nov 15. 

Drunky Out At WTKS    12-21-13
Thanks to Bob Price for letting us know that Drunky the Bear (Tom Vann)
has left the WTKS-FM 104.1 "Monsters in the Morning". Tom started as an intern on the show back in 2004. Tom decided not to renew his contract with Clear Channel.  

Angel Joining The Monsters      12-22-13
WTKS-FM 104.1 "Monsters" leader, Russ Rollins has announced Angel Rivera will be joining the crew in 2014. Russ also stated "...We are bringing back one Monster! A Monster that you thought would never come back!" No clue yet. Stay tuned...

Translators Being Added In Daytona And Melbourne    12-23-13
Black Crow Broadcasting is adding a translator. WHOG-FM 95.7 licensed to Ormond by the Sea, will also be heard on the 94.1 frequency in Daytona Beach.
WPIO-FM 89.3 owners, Cornerstone Community Radio, will be also adding a translator at 101.9, in Melbourne.
