Mark Logas Sits In    8-1-13
Professor of Political Science at Valencia Community College, and a good friend of this website, Mark Logas will be filling in for Bud Hedinger on the "Bud Hedinger Live" show on WFLF-AM 540/FM-104.5 Friday, August 2. Mark's  guests include former Florida Governor Jeb Bush and Mathew Staver, Founder/Chairman, Liberty Counsel and VP Liberty University who will talk about "ObamaCare".  Mark will be heard from 6AM-9AM.

On Tuesday former WMGF-FM 107.7 Program Director Ken Payne and WXXL-FM 106.7/WMGF-FM 107.7's Janna Sutter will hear the birthday song. Ms. Doris Ashwell turns 87 on Wednesday and Dr. Larry "Larry Vee" Flegle turns 65 on Friday. Happy birthday to you all!

Catching Up...     8-13-13
We've been on a brief hiatus, but we're back and ready to catch up. 
Cox Media has let Grace Vasquez go after six years at WWKA-FM 92.3.
Elise Rossi has been let go by Cox at WMMO-FM 98.9. Jay Mariotti has inked a deal with Genesis Communications II, Inc. Genesis will air Mariotti's new show on four stations: WHBO-AM ( Tampa ), WHOO-AM 1080, WGGG-AM 1230 and WMOP-AM.

Alex Stone Passes      8-15-13

Bubba and His Army Headed To Gainesville and Ocala      8-15-13
JVC Media has inked a deal with radio superstar Bubba The Love Sponge to take over mornings on the groups newly branded WYGC-FM 104.9 Gainesville and WTRS-FM 102.3, Ocala.  Bubba will slide into the morning drive seat and longtime market vets Dave and Bo will move to the afternoon drive position keeping with the JVC strategy of live and local jocks in every shift. “Bubba is a local market hero in Central Florida said Shane Reeve, VP and Market Manager for JVC Florida, “ he owns a local business in Ocala, knows the area well, and will help us brand My Country 104.9 and 102.3 as the market leader for personality driven Country radio!” Bubba has been a staple in personality driven radio for over 28 years and has a huge fan following on 7 major market radio stations.   “ I love the Gainesville, Ocala  market so much that 3 years ago I bought Ocala Speedway which is now named Bubba Raceway Park and I spend 48 weekends a year here.  Ocala/Gainesville is practically my second home.  I am absolutely thrilled to be working with JVC to bring exciting, personality local radio into the area, this is live and local the way radio is suppose to be”, said Bubba. “We are going to take this market by storm.

Cox Purchases DeBary Translator    8-18-13 Cox Media and Reach Communications have reached a deal on the sale of translator W297BB, 107.3 in DeBary. Clear Channel had been running 100.3's WRUM-HD2. 

Shadow Moves Down The Dial 
      8-27-13
Shadow Stevens (Rod Grant) joins WPOZ-FM 88.3 as evening host. Shadow comes to WPOZ after twenty years at WWKA-FM 92.3.

Kevin "Crash" Davis Joins Marc Radio     8-27-13
Kevin "Crash" Davis, former PD at WNDD-FM 95.5, has taken the Program Director position for the Marc Radio Gainesville cluster. The stations include; Contemporary Christian WPLL-FM 106.9 (106.9 THE PULSE) and the News/Talk simulcast of WDVH-AM 980 and WRZN-AM 720.

Changes At WHOG
     8-27-13
On Monday August 26th, long time Central Florida personality Crash (who you might remember from WJRR-FM 101.1  took over mornings on WHOG-FM1 95.7.  He's joined in the morning by Stephanie Longlegs. Frank Scott has moved to afternoons. Gary Meade continues to hold down the midday slot. Tracy Dillon's position has been eliminated in the shuffle.

We're Back...Once Again

After moving to a new house in a new city and changing Internet Service Providers, and suffering a complete computer breakdown, we are back, once again. We'll be catching up with all the news that is the news.

In Other WPOZ News...

Suzanne Lynn has moved from the evening shift to the mid-day slot weekdays from 10AM-3PM. WPOZ Assistant Program Director, Tate Luck has been named Program Director for their HD2, "Hot 95.9" and HD3, "The Rock" channels. 

Cox Names "Country Radio Format Leader"     8-29-13 
Cox Media
Group has named Jeff Garrison as its new country radio format leader, effective immediately. In his new role, Garrison will work closely with Cox Vice President of Programming, Steve Smith and all of the groups country music PDs at the company’s six country stations including Orlando's WWKA-FM 92.3. Garrison is also PD of KCYY-FM 100.3 in San Antonio as well as Operations Manager of the San Antonio Cluster.

Cigar Dave Adds Another FL Affiliate     8-31-13
The Cigar Dave Show is a new addition to Entercom's WSKY FM 97.3 in Gainesville. Program Director Nick Allen added the show to the station's Saturday schedule where it airs from 6PM-8PM.
