Joe Montione, aka "Banana Joe" was born in Hartford, Connecticut on January 21, 1954 and died in Los Angeles, Sept.11, 2021. In 1978 Joe worked at WLOF-AM 950.

Michael W. Lowe returns to the Central Florida air waves beginning Monday, Sep. 20. Michael is joining the staff at WSBH-FM 98.5. He will be the guy to take you home afternoons from 3PM-7PM.


Cuts At Cox Media Stations     9-24-21
Cox Media has announced cuts at WDBO-AM 580. "Orlando's Evening News"
host Tony Marino was let go after 8 years. Darrell Moody, who was a reporter on “Orlando’s Morning News”, was also a victim of the cuts. According to Inside Radio, Joe Kelley, WDBO News Director, will take the position on “Orlando’s Evening News” with Kevin Rafuse. In the same report they stated “Orlando’s News at Noon”  will be eliminated. Again, according to Inside Radio "Two Orlando Directors of Branding and Programming are also said to be out: Hildi Brooks at classic hits WMMO and Dawn Campbell at adult R&B “Star 94.5” WCFB". Also being cut is Matt "Holiday" Beyer, Music Director/Afternoons at WPYO-FM 95.3.


Eric Young Retiring      9-26-21

WSBH-FM 98.5's Eric Young is hanging up the headphones and retiring after over 8 years with "The Beach" and over 50 years as a broadcaster. Larry McKay returns to the Space Coast from our former sister station WHLG-FM in Stuart and is taking over the Morning Drive show from Eric. So we will be LIVE & LOCAL every weekday with "McKay in the Morning" 6AM to 10AM, SuperDave in the Mid-days 12 Noon to 3p and Michael W. Lowe for the drive home 3PM to 7PM.


Movin' On Up      9-28-21
WHHZ-FM 100.5 has moved Ashtyn to middays. She worked her way up from an intern at MARC RADIO, and also works part-time at sister Country WPLL-FM 106.9. In addition, Ashtyn is currently a senior at the University Of Florida and serving as Miss Florida Gator

Storm Roberts To Retire      9-29-21
WKTK-FM 98.5 morning host Storm Roberts will call it a career on Oct. 1. Roberts has been in broadcasting for 51 years with 35 of those at WKTK. 

Russ Rollins Contracts Covid        9-29-21
Despite being fully vaccinated, WTKS-FM 104.1 morning host, Russ Rollins has contracted Covid and has been hospitalized. Rollins advocated vaccinations and mask wearing.
