"Dancing With The Radio Stars"   8-1-10
The Dancing With The Radio Stars Event will take place at the Rosen Shingle Creek Resort on Sunday, September 26, 2010 from 4PM-8PM. The "Stars" include WDBO-AM 580's Marva Hinton, John Boy Fresh and Estee both from WPYO-FM 95.3. From WTKS-FM 104.1; Moira and (Michael) Wanzie. From WMMO-FM 98.9; Warren Lee. Joining the competition from WXXL-FM 106.7;morning co-hosts Johnny Magic and Whitney as well as producer Brian Grimes.

14 year Orlando radio veteran and newly married Brenda (Gardener) Matthews is "about ready to join my husband in Charlotte, NC for a new adventure!" Brenda is presently a traffic reporter for numerous area stations through NAVTEQ. She was also the midday personality and Assistant Program Director at WMGF-FM 107.7 as well as mid-dayer for WLRQ-FM 99.3.  Brenda has also worked part time for CBS Radio heard on WOMX-FM 105.1 and WOCL-FM 105.9. Good luck Brenda and Kenny!

Regis and Kelly Women Of Radio Co-Host Finalists Includes Jayde   8-9-10
WXXL-FM 106.7's Jayde of the “Johnny & Jayde Morning Show" has made it to the final 10 in the Regis and Kelly Women of Radio Co-Host contest. The finalists were pared down from a group of 100. You can see Jayde's video and vote, here.  

WTMG Drops Tom Joyner     8-10-10
WTMG-FM 101.3 in Gainesville, has ended their 15 year association with the syndicated Tom Joyner Morning Show. The syndicated Rickey Smiley Morning Show is replacing Joyner.

Jayde One Of Four "Winners"  8-12-10
The Regis and Kelly Women of Radio Co-Host contest has ended. With Kelly Ripa taking four days off next week, "Live with Regis and Kelly" will have four co-hosts, each taking a day. The winners include Jayde from the morning show on WXXL-FM 106.7 and she will appear on Wednesday's program.

WHNR Adds Classic Country    8-13-10
WHNR-AM 1360 is now adding English programming. The Regional Mexican programming runs from  6AM-7PM and then Classic Country from the 60's thru the 90's airs from 7PM-6AM. 

Movin' On Up   8-13-10
WLOQ-FM 103.1's Ken Jones has added the title of
Operations Manager to his duties. Ken was named Program Director earlier this year.

On Monday, WDBO-AM 580 morning man, Jim Turner celebrates number  64. On Wednesday, that "Coffee Talk" lady Liz Litterello blows out the candles. On Thursday Bobby Sharpe celebrates and on Friday, Jay Waggoner turns 51. Happy Birthday to each of you!

"Kicks 4 Guns" Expands    8-18-10
Central Florida law enforcement agencies will give away gift cards to citizens who turn in guns Friday during their annual "Kicks 4 Guns" program, hoping to get firearms off the local streets. The program, was started almost 12 years ago, by WTKS-FM 104.1's Russ Rollins the host of the "Monsters In The Morning". Nine Central Florida Law Enforcement agencies will participate this year. From 7AM until 7PM on Friday, anyone can turn in guns anonymously at locations throughout Central Florida. Police purchase gift cards from money seized in felony crimes, offering up to $50 in free gas and merchandise from Wal-Mart, Target, or other stores. Shoes, which were called "kicks" when the program began, are still available at the Orlando Police department's event. Kicks 4 Guns locations are: Orange County Sheriff's Office: Central Florida Fairgrounds, 4603 West Colonial Drive, Orlando. Orlando Police Department: Orlando Downtown Recreation Complex, 649 West. Livingston Rd. To Retire    8-26-10
Roger Simmons of rogersimmons.com reports that long time Central Florida radio/TV personality Mike Burger will be hanging up his weatherman badge at
KTVT-CBS 11, Dallas on Sept. 4th. He said he plans to remain in North Texas. We've added Mike's bio here 

Dave Collins
Out At Magic   8-27-10
Another Central Florida morning radio personality "has left the building". Dave Collins is no longer with WMGF-FM 107.7.  It seems to be another case of; "taking a different direction". Dave had been with the station for almost 10 years. For now Leslye Gayle will continue the morning show with Producer Zach Roberson

Marc Bernier Coming Up On Flashpoint   8-27-10
On Sunday at 8:30AM, WNDB-AM 1150's Marc Bernier, WKMG Reporter Tony Pipitone and Orlando Sentinel Columnist Scott Maxwell will all appear on
FlashPoint, hosted by Lauren Rowe. They will be discussing the election results.

WJRR Making Moves   8-28-10
Thanks to Bob Peters for letting us know that beginning Monday, Aug 30 Crash and LT are moving to 6AM, replacing Lex and Terry and Pat Lynch will move to the 3PM-8PM time slot. 

Doc Off The Air At K92    8-31-10
WWKA-FM 92.3 morning co-host Doc is no longer a part of the "K Morning Crew".
Program director Len Shackelford told Scott Maxwell of the Orlando Sentinel "Doc’s no longer on the air. We appreciate everything he has done on for us, and we wish him the best." Doc did tell me he is still under contract with Cox, as Shackelford told Maxwell. The morning show is being handled by Grace Vasquez and producer Skid.
