Jerry Doyle Passes 8-1-16 Syndicated conservative talk show host and actor Jerry Doyle has died in Las Vegas at age 60. There was a Central Florida connection. Doyle earned a Bachelor of Science Degree in Aeronautics from Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University in Daytona Beach where he also received his flight training. |
Movin' On Up 8-3-16 iHeartMedia has announced that Linda Byrd will now become President of the Central/North Florida Region, which includes Orlando, Tampa/Sarasota, Jacksonville, Brunswick, GA and Melbourne. Byrd is a 40-year media veteran who has been with the company since 1982. Byrd previously oversaw operations in Orlando, including Real Radio 104.1, XL 106.7, Magic 107.7, 101.1 WJRR, Rumba 100.3, News Radio 102.5 WFLA, 96.9 The Game, 104.5 the Beat, WLOQ Radio, Florida’s News Network, FNN Hispana, Alma 97.1 and Pride Radio Orlando. During her tenure she has received many prestigious honors, including Radio Ink Magazine’s General Manager of the Year, and received the Silver Medal Award by the American Advertising Federation for outstanding advertising professional in Central Florida. Byrd was also the first woman to serve as Chairman of the Florida Association of Broadcasters and currently serves on the boards of the Central Florida Transportation Committee and Florida Citrus Sports. |
WYGC Flips To News/Talk 8-4-16 JVC Media flips Classic Hits WYGC-FM 104.9 to a News/Talk format. "104.9 The Talk of Gainesville," will launch at midnight August 4 with non-stop local news, weather and traffic in addition to the syndicated "Imus in the Morning" and Fox News' Brian Kilmeade. "104.9 The Talk of Gainesville will be locally programmed to allow our community to discuss issues important to Gainesville residents," said WYGC Program Director and JVC Media VP Matthew Goldapper. The station will air from its downtown Gainesville studios. WYGC will carry CBS News on the hour. |

Movin' On Up 8-25-16 Cox Media Group has named Dawn Campbell, as its new Director of Branding and Programming at WCFB-FM 94.5. In this role, Campbell is responsible for coaching and developing on-air talent, as well as creating and executing a branding and programming strategy for CMG Orlando’s Urban Adult Contemporary Station. Campbell just celebrated her 5th anniversary this month with the CMG Orlando Radio family as Music Director for WCFB-FM 94.5 & WPYO-FM 95.3 and Promotions Manager for WCFB-FM. Prior to her time spent at CMG, she was with CBS Orlando for 15 years. Her radio journey began when she was in high school. She started as a research/promotions assistant and within 2 years was promoted to Assistant Promotions Director for WJHM-FM . She spent most of her CBS career as the Music/Promotions Director for WJHM-FM. |
