Burke and Schulz Form Partnership    
7-9-06
Deanne Schulz, public relations and marketing  director for the "Daily Buzz" on WKCF-Channel 18 and Shannon Burke are a twosome. The two met while Deanne was working on the Mike Harvey Show on WSHE-FM 100.3. Schulz brought her son, Dan, 7, and daughter, Alexa, 9, to the merger, while Shannon brought 6 year old daughter, Abby. The Burke/Schulz clan is about to add newcomer Jack, around Aug. 15.


The Switch Is On       7-10-06

As we told you back in April the Clear Channel-owned talk station WFLF-AM 540 will be switching networks, moving from its current network affiliation with CBS, to become a Fox Network affiliate. The official start date is July 31.Management says the switch will put the station more in line with its listeners. No local programming changes are expected.

The Sexy Savannah who joined afternoon guy Bobby Smith in June, on WOCL-FM 105.9 after her leaving WTKS-FM 104.1 after 10 years, has moved to mornings with another former WTKS alumni Drew Garabo. Mel Taylor has taken the sexy ones afternoon slot.


Buckethead Is On The Move     7-12-06
Jason Bailey better known as "Buckethead"  the afternoon guy on WJRR-FM 101.1 has been named the new morning show host at WHPT-FM 102.5, Tampa. Bailey has been at WJRR for the past five years.


“Kicks For Guns”   7-28-06

Orlando Police are offering new pairs of tennis shoes today in exchange for guns. The Kicks for Guns campaign is being organized by the Orlando Police Department, WTKS-FM 104.1 , Monsters in the morning and Reebok. The event is designed to get guns off the streets before they're used in crimes. Guns can be exchanged for the shoes with no questions asked.

Hospice of Marion County Steel Horse Stampede Bike Run    7-31-06

The Third Annual Hospice of Marion County Steel Horse Stampede Bike Run will take place on Saturday, November 4, 2006. The run will be led by the Marion County Sheriff and Police Departments. The 55 mile run will be highlighted with a stop at each of the four Hospice Houses.  The $25.00 ($10.00 for 2nd rider) registration fee includes a light breakfast, the bike run, BBQ lunch, door prizes and entertainment.  Registration begins at 9:00am, the ride starts at 10:00am.  All proceeds raised from this event benefit patient care.
