Welcome to "The Boulevard" 1-1-14 After 15 years as one of Ocala’s Contemporary Christian Music stations, WKSG-FM 89.5, known as Daystar Radio 89.5, has flipped formats New Year’s Day to a carefully researched and blended mix of big band, smooth jazz and select AAA (Adult Album Alternative) music now calling itself "The Boulevard". Nationally recognized radio consultant, and Ocala native, Mark Tillery, of J. M. Tillery & Associates, P. A., has been retained to implement the new Boulevard, heard on 89.5 FM. "There is a major void for this type format," says Tillery, "and one word describes the new format – Class." The new Boulevard can be heard over the air at 89.5 FM and online at www.boulevardfm.com and features Don Bruce, mornings 8AM to 10AM followed by Gene Martin heard from 10AM to Noon weekdays playing timeless big bands. At noon more contemporary and smooth jazz is blended into the mix for the rest of the day. At night, "Nightlife" comes to life with a slighter more progressive jazz edge. |
Tuddle Returns To The Monsters 1-2-14 Tuddle (Patrick Fowler) has returned as a regular cast member of The Monsters in the Morning at WTKS-FM 104.1. Tuddle had spent 10 years with the Monsters before being fired by Clear Channel in 2010. |

The First President's Speakers Event of 2014 1-14-14 Marc Bernier and WNDB-AM 1150 kick off 2014 with the first President's Speakers Town Hall Event with a discussion on the evolution and return on investment to the American traveler from NextGen! The program will begin at 7PM. It's free and open to the public. The event will be held in the Gale Lemerand auditorium, in the Capt. Willie Miller building on the campus of Embry-Riddle University. |
New Station Coming To Deland? 1-15-14 The West Volusia Beacon newspaper is reporting that a "new" station is coming to Deland. Jose Zouain, President of Zouain Enterprises LLC told the Beacon that it will be an AM station. Zouain would not give many other details but to say the format will be "hot talk" and one of the hosts will be Doc Holliday (Jeff Duncan) formerly with WXXL-FM 106.7, WWKA-FM 92.3, WEUS-AM 810 and WRSO-AM 810. Editor's note: Deland has two AM frequencies right now. WYND-AM 1310 a Christian formatted station and WTJV-AM 1490 which is a simulcast of WSBB-AM 1230. |

Gainesville/Ocala Stations Sales Finalized 1-20-14 JVC Media, which took over WTRS-FM 102.3, WYGC-FM 104.9, WMFQ-FM 92.9 and WXJZ-FM 100.9 from Asterisk Communications, Inc. through an LMA back in May, has finalized the deal. The total is $3.5 million. The other property in the cluster, WBXY-FM 99.5 has been sold by JVC to RDA Broadcast Holdings, LLC for $350,000. |
