WPOZ-FM 88.3 morning co-host Ellis B. Feaster is at Florida Hospital after suffering what Doctors believe, was a seizure on Monday, while on the air with co-host

"Long Way To The Top" Returns     7-9-15
From Lee Arnold; Due to the popularity of the exhibit "Long Way To The Top" Hard Rock in Orlando, 1977-1985, the Orange County Regional History Center is bringing an expanded version from
August 21-October 4, 2015. There will be a WORJ Roundtable the evening of August 20th, kicking off the expanded exhibition. So far participants in the Roundtable include Hanna, Doug Laby (Van Allen)Neal Mirsky and Lee Arnold. More to be announced as confirmed and, of course, the public is invited to attend.


Ellis Is On The Mend     7-10-15
Ellis B. Feaster, morning co-host with Tyler McKenzie on WPOZ-FM 88.3, has returned home Thursday afternoon. Ellis suffered what doctors believe was a seizure during Monday morning's broadcast. Tyler told Hal Boedeker at the Orlando Sentinel, 
“He will continue to get tests done to determine why this happened. He is tired but happy to be home."

Thanks to Jack Rhine for letting us know of the passing of Jay Waggoner. Jay was an amazing engineer and a good friend of this web site. Jay worked at many stations in Central Florida. We'll have more soon.

2015 Marconi Radio Award Finalists Announced

Two Central Florida stations have bee named finalists for the 2015 Marconi Award. WMMO-FM 98.9 has been nominated as Classic Hits Station of the Year. WWKA-FM 92.3 is a finalist in the Country Station of the Year category. Congratulations to both stations.

Susan Larkin
Vice President/General Manager for Cox's 6 station Orlando cluster was promoted to Regional VP of Jacksonville and Orlando Radio and will also assume responsibility for Jacksonville Radio.


La Raza Media Adds Translator     7-17-15 
La Raza Media Group, owners of WTWB-AM 1570, have purchased translator W224CF in Haines City from Edgewater Broadcasting, Inc. for $30,000.

New Home For The Dougherty Report     7-17-15
"The Dougherty Report", heard nationally on the Genesis Communications Network, announces a day and time and a new flagship station in Orlando.  The show now originates from the studios of iHeart Media's NewsRadio 102.5 WFLA/WFLF-AM 540 and airs LIVE on Sunday nights from 7PM-10PM.

7 Cox Stations Knocked Of The Air     7-17-15
WDBO-FM 96.5, WWKA-FM 92.3, WDBO-AM 580, WMMO-FM 98.8, WCFB-FM 94.5, WPYO-FM 95.3 and X107.3-FM were knocked off the air on Wednesday during a power outage. To compound matters, the two diesel backup generators failed. The stations were back on the air by 4PM.

John Summers Looking For New Gig       7-21-15
John Summers has been let go by Westwood One, on their Dial Global's Oldies Plus Channel after four and a half years. John's CFLRadio resume includes stints at WBJW-FM 105.1, WMMO-FM 98.9, WOCL-FM 105.9  and WSBH-FM 98.5 via Westwood-One. John also spent 19 years at KLUV-FM 98.7 in Dallas.

Taaffe Joins UCF Radio Team     7-26-15
Charlie Taaffe, University of Central Florida's former offensive coordinator has been named the newest color analyst for the university's radio team for the 2015 season. IMG College and UCF IMG Sports Network announced the decision on Thursday.

Hartwell Conklin Passes         7-26-15
An "Orlando Icon" has passed away. Hartwell Conklin died at the age of 87.

Shannon Burke has been let go over in Tampa where he had been at
WHPT-FM 102.5 ("The Bone"). 

WSDO Sanford Picking Up Simulcast     7-28-15
WSBB-AM 1230 is being simulcast over WTJV-AM 1490 in Deland and now is being simulcast on WSDO-AM 1400 in Sanford, from 4PM to 6AM weekdays. This may not be a permanent arrangement, but for now Sanford and Deltona can enjoy the Adult Standards heard on WSBB.

Victim of The CBS Layoffs    7-28-15
WJHM-FM 101.9's James Steele has been let go by CBS. 

WMEL On The Move       7-29-15
John Harper, President of Broadcast House, LLC, has announced that WMEL-AM 1300 will be moving up the dial to the 1060 AM position. The change will take place on Sunday August 9th. The format and call letters will move as well. The move will give the station a big jump in power to 50,000 watts.

Logas In For Bud Hedinger      7-29-15
Mark Logas will be filling in for Bud Hedinger on "BHL" ("Bud Hedinger Live") this Thursday and Friday. On Thursday, during the 7 o’clock hour, Father John Hamatie of the St. George Orthodox Church in Orlando will share his views on the persecution of Christians around the world, Israel and a Palestinian state, and examine why ISIS and other hate groups are successfully recruiting Americans. Former Virginia Governor George Allen will join Mark at 8:12 a.m. in an exclusive radio interview to discuss the Young America’s Foundation and his work as a Reagan Ranch Presidential Scholar. Friday's show will deal with several local stories, including the Orange County Commission's decision to stop twice a week garbage pickup in unincorporated Orange County, a move that will impact over 200,000 households. First U.S. Morning Show From Cuba     7-31-15
This morning Johnny Magic, Laura Diaz and Brian Grimes from WXXL-FM 106.7's "Johnny's House" broadcast live form Havana, Cuba. They shared their Cuban culture experience from 6AM-10AM.
They are the first U.S. morning team to broadcast from the island nation.
